This week has been awfully dreary due to the rain, but patriotism is alive and well at Fairfield Middle School and High School! Today at school, the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks was celebrated in several ways. At the high school, students and staff observed a moment of silence in honor of the attacks. At the middle school, students and staff participated in an assembly commemorating 9/11 with videos, readings, songs, and personal stories. Here in the library, our showcases are demonstrating the patriotism found at the schools, and we have many books full of heartfelt stories, information, and photos relating to the attacks that so greatly affected the entire country. To celebrate all of the wonderful places in the United States, we have a map in the library where students and staff can mark a place they've visited. Come celebrate our great country by visiting the library and demonstrating your right and freedom to read!

Plug it in, Plug it in
How many things that you use everyday need to be plugged in at one point or another? I'm guessing the number is higher than you expected. If we traveled back forty years and asked people the same question, I'm guessing their numbers wouldn't be quite as high as ours. Today, a large amount of the objects we use involve some kind of technology that needs to be plugged in either to operate or to recharge. Technology is changing the world we live in. This is also true here at Fairfield; Changes are coming to the library! A new initiative at the library is focused on being "plugged in" and embracing technology! I'm excited for you to share in the changes that are coming.
