Teen Read Week 2013 - Seek the Unknown at your Library!

Next week, October 13-19th is Teen Read Week.  We will be celebrating Tuesday through Friday at school, through a Battle of the Books competition.  This bracket-style tournament will put our favorite teen books against each other to see who rises to the top as our ultimate favorite.  Visit the library every day to vote on your favorite.  Each time you vote, you will be entered into a drawing that will take place after the end of the week.  One middle school student and one high school student will win small prize for their participation.  Also, check out the book displays in the hallways, as they feature this year's theme, Seek the Unknown!

Welcome back!

Well, another summer has passed us by. Last school year was record breaking for the library, and this school year will certainly be full of exciting new learning opportunities! The library does have one very exciting piece of news: updated computers! Thank you to all the administrators and supporters who made these computers possible!

Biblionasium

Middle School Students:  Don't forget to log into Biblionasium this summer and keep track of your reading!  Remember to keep track of the gold letter that lists your username and password.  If you log that you read 30 or more hours during the summer (which is less than 3 hours a week) you will receive a reward when you return to school in August! 

Middle School Parents:  If you haven't already, you can also create a Biblionasium account.  Your child cannot make friends on Biblionasium until you do, and you can keep track of what and how much they are reading through the website!

New books!

While all books need to be returned today to prepare for the end of the year, we are looking forward to next school year.  We recently purchased some new books from the Scholastic warehouse sale. The first picture displays the new middle school books you can look forward to checking out next year, and the second picture shows the new high school books.

Allegiant

Yesterday, author Veronica Roth revealed the cover of Allegiant, the final book in the Divergent Series.  The reveal occurred on the Today show, during Veronica's interview with Ryan Seacrest.  Use this link to view the interview.

Another big announcement!

This has been a big week in the world of Young Adult literature.  First we had the release for the first trailer for the Hunger Games:  Catching Fire movie.  Now we finally have the title of the third book in the Divergent Series.  Author Veronica Roth announced the title via USA today, and you can check it out in the video below!

She must be eliminated!

If you watched the MTV movie awards, you may have seen it already.  The first teaser trailer for the 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' movie was debuted during the MTV movie awards on Sunday, and it is now available to be viewed online, through YouTube.  The movie is not released until November 22nd, but now is the time to reread the series so that you are ready for the hysteria when it begins again!

If you would like to help out our library, by donating new books, check out our Amazon wish list.

Our Amazon wish list contains books that we would like in the library.  Many of the books on the list have been requested by students and teachers.  The wish list also lists items that the library needs, such as flash drives and rubber cement. 

If you buy an item from the wish list, you can select to have it sent directly to us, here at the library.  Also, if you wish to purchase items from another retailer, go ahead!  It does not matter if they come from Amazon or from somewhere else.  

Go take a look.  The students and teachers would appreciate donations of any of the items on the list!
