Review: The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins

MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR
The Top 10 reasons you should read The Hunger Games series.

10. The Creatures -  From jabberjays to trackerjackers to other muttations, they will surprise you.

9.  The Costumes -  Collins describes the outfits of the characters is such detail that you can actually envision them.  I can't wait to see how they are portrayed the movie, which reason 3.

8.  The Writing - Within the first page of Book One: The Hunger Games, I knew it was going to be phenomenal.  The words create a vivid picture in the reader's mind.

7.  The Romance - This is for the lady readers.  Through the series, I was torn between whether Katniss would pick Peeta or Gale at the end, if she was going to pick either of them.  However, the romance isn't overpowering.  After all, It's not Twilight.

6.  The Symbols - The English teacher in me thought the symbolism in the series was spectacular.  From the mockingjay, to fire, to singing, everything seemed to be connected and have meaning.

5.   The Cliffhangers -  If you want a page turner, these books are for you.  I physically could not stop reading.  There were points when I even GOL'd (Gasped Out Loud).

4.  The Deaths - The whole premise of the games is that twenty four children are sent to the games and one comes back.  Think blood and body parts.  The question is:  Are the casualties worth it in the end?

3.  The Movie -  The movie for the first book in the series will be released March 23.  Start the countdown.  Hopefully it won't destroy the story, like some movies do.

2.  The Future - The plot takes place in our future, making you question whether a dystopia like Panem could really exist.  What if parts of it already do?

1.  The Characters -  If you're a girl, you'll want to be as ruthless and clever as Katniss.  If you're guy, you'll wish you had the heart of Peeta or fire that fuels Gale.
